Norwegian designer Kjersti Vatle presented her second collection at OFW in February and is a relative newcomer to the fashion scene. Her AW2010 collection was inspired by Sci-Fi movies from the 70s and 80s, which accounts for the alien makeup I suppose… But the real attraction weren’t the attention seeking masks and green lizard looks, but the shapes and silhouettes she created. There aren’t many Scandinavian designers who succeed so well at creating dramatic, futuristic shapes like Vatle does. I loved the bubble dresses, the bubble cardigan/vest thing and the faceted, architectural top. The lookbook images were shot by street style photographer Hilde Holta-Lysell and brings another dimension to this fun and well constructed collection.
