PFW Pt 3

March 13, 2010

Paris, mon amour!  Fashion month is finally over and now we can breathe and relax a little again. And marvel over all the sights we have seen, especially from Paris.

YSL went into a monk-like mood with capes, hoods and long gold chains and belts. The sea of black was broken with one of my favourite winter trends, the cheeky colour flash. Oh la la!

Vanessa Bruno

Soft layering and asymmetrical cutting was the result of Vanessa Bruno’s ballet dancer inspired collection. I loved the soft colours and the comfortable, yet edgy look that she created.

Stella McCartney

I guess the overall impact of next winter’s minimalist trend is that fashion is getting more grown up. Stella McCartney was one of the few that managed to make it look young and sweet. Minimalist chic gone cute. If that’s possible.

Giambattista Valli

If Stella McCartney was cute, then Giambattista Valli was adorable. There was a really strong 60s sex kitten vibe, but my favourite pieces were the super sweet camel coats at the beginning of the show. Outerwear porn.

Chloé’s whole collection reminded me of how my mum used to dress in the 70s, all silk blouses, camel coats and wool dresses and trousers. How the moonboots fit in with all this, I have no idea.

I wasn’t a big fan of Chanel this time, but it’s hard to avoid talking about it. A giant iceberg imported from Sweden, fake and real fur gone mad, yeti suits, fur boots soaked in ice water – giving off a “wet dog” vibe, and your standard black and white Chanel twinsets. Very weird.

Miu Miu

Super cute, 60s inspired, embellished heavy duty materials and seriously feminine. What’s not to love? Perhaps the weird foot capes, but this is a minor quibble.
