Sthlm Part 2

February 4, 2010

Day two of Stockholm Fashion Week featured one of my absolute favourite brands Whyred, as well as some designers that are new to me. In particular, Diana Orving was a big and very pleasant surprise. Btw, can you tell swedes love black or what?

I was not too aware of Diana Orving until now, but she has been much hyped in Sweden, mainly because of her tender age. Born in 1985, Diana started selling her collections at the age of 15, and to date she has presented 7 stand alone shows. Pretty impressive in itself, but most impressive are the actual clothes. Again, a little 90s and sheer inspiration is evident, but the cutting, drapery and prints are anything but young and naive. Nice to see some fresh talent coming up.

I have a feeling I ramble on about Whyred quite often, but deservedly so I think. Their AW2010 collection has just confirmed my obsession, with the sheer panelled leggings, two-tone velvet wrap dress and more than a few beautifully draped jackets and coats. I like Whyred for their artful tailoring that never seems too severe or masculine. Whatever Whyred offers, always has a feminine edge to it.

Finally, Odeur played with volume and drapery, creating some cutting edge, monochrome silhouettes.
