Dream A Little Dream
Something In The Air
Spring fling: The stripes
PFW Pt 2
So many shows, so many amazing moments. Paris is my favourite fashion week, and here’s some more reasons why.
The AW2010 collection was quite a departure in style for Roland Mouret, but I loved it. His signature hyper feminine, figure enhancing dresses were replaced by trousers (!), minimalist shift dresses and casual, sleek hooded dresses. For me it was far younger than I have seen from him before.
Kokosolaki was all about the soft, feminine materials and shapes this time, with a lot of emphasis on big waist defining belts. I particularly loved the black chiffon goddess dress layered over a nude mesh number. Sooo pretty!
Following up on D&G’s ski bunny theme, Ricardo Tisci used traditional snow flake knit prints together with neoprene (as in scuba diving suit material). Warm and cosy, I’m sure. Otherwise, the collection was of course very black, which is no bad thing, with surprising and super sexy flashes of red. I loved all the textures, the velvets, mesh, leather and sheepskin, and I love love love the sparkly leggings and of course the shoes! Yet again. Genius.
Make no mistake, Sonia Rykiel brought knitted stripes this time too, but the rest of the collection was full of tougher, yet soft and muted knitwear. She even managed to jump on the minimalist bandwagon with some of the pieces. And the ridonculous headpieces kicked ass!
If someone did get the memo on the minimalist trend, it would have been Ennio Capasa at Costume National of course. Sharp tailoring and monochrome colours were the order of the day, again with unexpected flashes of colour though. And some of the more opulent pieces towards the end were rockin’.
I’m really getting into the whole minimalist trend even though it’s not really my style. The models at Celine just looked so damn chic!
Victor & Rolf
There’s fashion shows and there’s fashion shows, and Victor & Rolf know how to do both. Kristen McMenamy was sent out first wearing the entire collection, which the two designers then proceeded to peel off her and dress the other models in, before the process was reversed. Hot stuff. How she managed to stay on her feet the whole time is still a mystery.
Bad Romance
Freja Beha Erichsen get into some dark shit with nakkid lover Mathias Lauridsen, captured by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia. Danetastic.

Though A Glass Darkly
an unfinished symphony to life – and death
– Hilary Alexander, The Telegraph
He wanted to get back to the handcraft he loved, and the things that are being lost in the making of fashion. He was looking at the art of the Dark Ages, but finding light and beauty in it.
– Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen
…it was spectacular, emotional, filled with the drama and pulsing high of a stellar talent being pushed to the very limits of its genius… The air throbbed with a mingling of emotions – loss, sadness, regret and, overwhelmingly, love.
Afterwards as I walked out into the black night, my brain was still ablaze with gold.
Goodbye Lee.

With a haunting soundtrack of operatic music, the presentation was solemn, funereal and even a little spooky — and the references to angels, broken skulls and religious themes eerily prescient.

Looking at the work, I’m amazed at the talent and the beauty was incredible.
It’s sad that talent is no longer here.

Marina And The Diamonds vs Passion Pit
What a joy it is when two of my current music obsessions join forces. This is a cracking Passion Pit remix of I Am Not A Robot. Loves it!
