Salem

October 17, 2010

Salem is another one of those bands I have been told I should check out for ages, but ultimately it took the Givenchy SS2011 show for me to look more into it, and guess what, I bloody love it. Figures.

Salem is another one of those bands that have music journalists both confused and excitedly coming up with new genres to try and pigonhole them – witch house, crave crunk, ghost juke, crimsonwave, illwave and my personal favourite – screwgaze. The band themselves prefer the term drag, which is probably the most descriptive of the music. Slowed down, eerie sounds that sound like you are pulling at something slowly. In a pleasant kind of way. New album King Night is out now and is such a beautiful soundtrack for autumn.

Haider Ackerman SS2011

October 15, 2010

I loved that Haider Ackerman played with bright colours for SS2011. It really added another dimension to the sculptural pieces. The devil really is in the details.
