John Galliano AW11
With all the controversy surrounding John Galliano’s downfall it’s not surprising that his namesake label’s AW11 collection got some mixed reviews. Not because of his vision or his skill in executing it, but because of concerns about the viability of a label whose founder and designer has alienated himself in spectacular fashion. Personally, I think Dior did the right thing letting him go, as the man clearly has some issues he has to sort out, and while there is absolutely no excuse for his behaviour, I am a great believer in separating the art from the artist. For me the collection was stunning and a reminder to all what made Galliano such a big star in the fashion world in the first place. As for his label, I think the fashion world may not be terribly forgiving, but I do believe that they will be quite forgetful. Just look what happened to Kate Moss.

Balenciaga does complex minimalism better than anyone. It’s never dull, never really reminiscent of anything you’ve ever seen before and it’s always on the ugly side of pretty without exaggerating too much. Simply a very very intelligent collection.

I tend to like Karl Lagerfeld’s efforts for Fendi more than his work for Chanel, perhaps because Fendi is much more about cool & collected luxury that’s not too showy. Love this green outfit so much, so perfect!
Prada AW11
Prada is always worth a second look. What Prada says usually goes, so I suppose the 60s aviator/schoolgirl look is what’s up for next autumn/winter. Fun!

Oh la la ! norwegian photographer Sølve Sundsbø has made a magical and doll like photoshoot for Love magazine – the androgyny issue. The cover is the much talked about picture of Kate Moss kissing Lea T, shot by famed fashion photographer duo Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
